Launch of Ampreg-3x Epoxy Laminating Resin

The Ampreg^TM 3X Series replaces Gurit’s lega­cy range of wet lam­i­na­tion sys­tems for the man­u­fac­ture of large com­pos­ite struc­tures in the marine, wind and con­struc­tion indus­tries. The com­pre­hen­sive Ampreg^TM 3X Series port­fo­lio includes a unique range of low tox­i­c­i­ty and mis­ci­bil­i­ty cur­ing agents that can be used in con­junc­tion with the fol­low­ing resins:

• Ampreg^TM 30, low vis­cos­i­ty resin: replaces Ampreg 21
• Ampreg^TM 31, run-off resis­tant resin: replaces Ampreg 22
• Ampreg^TM 36, pre­mi­um Per­for­mance Resin: replaces Ampreg 26

Oth­er ancil­lary prod­ucts such as Thixotrop­ic Pregel Resin and High Tg Hard­en­er are also available!

FOCUS: HEALTH AND SAFETY

The award-win­ning Ampreg^TM 3X Series lam­i­nat­ing sys­tem has been redesigned to ensure user health and safe­ty through care­ful selec­tion of base chem­i­cals. The new low tox­i­c­i­ty resin matrix is CMR, SVHC and AEP free* and the hard­en­ers are clas­si­fied as envi­ron­men­tal­ly friendly.

Our man­u­fac­tur­er, Gurit, care­ful­ly selects the chem­i­cals used in for­mu­la­tions to ensure the low­est pos­si­ble risk of future reclas­si­fi­ca­tion — prod­uct safe­ty and end-user health and safe­ty are para­mount. This approach is part of Gurit’s phi­los­o­phy. As a respon­si­ble and sus­tain­able sup­pli­er, we want to sup­port, pro­tect and warn our cus­tomers of poten­tial changes.

Ampreg-3x with standard light reflection technology 

The Ampreg^TM 3X series is now avail­able with LRT (Light Reflec­tive Tech­nol­o­gy) as stan­dard. Gurit’s Light Reflec­tive Tech­nol­o­gy (LRT) is an addi­tive that helps to make con­t­a­m­i­na­tion from haz­ardous chem­i­cals vis­i­ble in the work­place and on the processor’s cloth­ing. Gurit Ampreg^TM Series 3X lam­i­nat­ing sys­tems are the first pro­duc­tion series from Gurit to fea­ture this new tech­nol­o­gy as stan­dard. This addi­tive can be incor­po­rat­ed into the matrix of resins in all of our lam­i­nat­ing and bond­ing sys­tems with­out alter­ing their com­po­si­tion or han­dling prop­er­ties or the per­for­mance char­ac­ter­is­tics of the cured resin.

With this new process, resin droplets of less than 1 mm are detectable. This makes con­t­a­m­i­na­tion with epoxy resin, pre­vi­ous­ly invis­i­ble to the naked eye, eas­i­ly detectable on the user’s skin as well as on equip­ment, door­knobs and sim­i­lar loca­tions. Thus, con­t­a­m­i­na­tion with resins can be eas­i­ly removed from the skin, con­tribut­ing to a low­er risk of skin con­tact with uncured resins, as well as a low­er inci­dence of skin irri­ta­tion caused to users. To learn more about Gurit® LRT tech­nol­o­gy, please read the cor­re­spond­ing data sheet: [down­load id=“2365”]

EASY MIXING: The Ampreg-3X lam­i­nat­ing series is avail­able with a sin­gle series of hard­en­er speeds from fast to extra slow, and offers the abil­i­ty to mix hard­en­ers to achieve a wide range of work­ing times.

AWARD: Gurit’s inno­v­a­tive approach to pri­or­i­tiz­ing user health and safe­ty was rec­og­nized and award­ed the 2018 Com­pos­ites UK Inno­va­tion in Com­pos­ite Mate­ri­als Award.

CERTIFICATIONS: Ampreg^TM 30 and Ampreg^TM 31 are DNV-GL and Lloyd’s Reg­is­ter certified.

AVAILABILITY: The Gurit® Ampreg^TM 3X series lam­i­na­tion sys­tem is avail­able world­wide. The lam­i­na­tion sys­tem is avail­able in a vari­ety of con­tain­er sizes, from small packs to drums to IBC containers.

We offer our prod­ucts in dif­fer­ent con­tain­ers so that the right quan­ti­ty is always avail­able. Our resins have a shelf life of up to 2 years after pro­duc­tion. The resin and hard­ness quan­ti­ties are matched to each oth­er in such a way that the con­tain­er sizes are in the cor­rect mix­ing ratio.

SVHC = Sub­stances of Very High Con­cern.
AEP = Com­mon­ly used rapid epoxy resin cur­ing agent clas­si­fied as CMR.
